Wilcox at the Front in Repaired Ferrari 430 PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 24 April 2007
Following this mornings crash in free practice that left the VRS Motor Finance Ferrari 430 in a less than perfect state, a mammoth effort by the teams mechanics, and parts donated by the Christians in Motorsport Ferrari that was also involved in the crash, gave Adam Wilcox a car that was capable of taking pole position for Round 4 of the 2007 Avon Tyres British GT Championship.

Wilcox had to fight all the way in the 15-minute session with Jonathan Cocker challenging for the honour of starting at the front of the grid in the bio ethanol powered Aston Martin DBRS9.  However at the end of the session it was Wilcox who held the upperhand by 0.149 seconds.   Ian Flux came close to taking pole in his first outing of the 2007 season in the Rollcentre Mosler but had to settle for a second row start alongside the second Aston Martin of Michael Bentwood.

Steve Hyde took the GTC pole in the Team Aero Morgan ahead of Graeme Mundy in the RSS Performance Porsche 996 which finished the session in a cloud of smoke as a power steering pipe came loose.

The Lotus Sport Cadena Exige disappeared in a cloud of extinguisher smoke just before Goddards and the problem will keep Barrie Whight and Gavan Kershaw on the sidelines for the rest of the weekend.  The Trackspeed Porsche of David Ashburn and Tim Sugden suffered a tranmission fault and the team are working hard to complete the repairs before Round 3 later this afternoon.  Collapsed suspension on the Beechdean Ferrari 360 prevented Aaron Scott from taking part in the session but the team are confident that the car will be reading to take its place on the grid for Round 3.

Round 3 of the 2007 Avon Tyres British GT Championship is due to start at 16:25.
