Team RAC driver Tom Onslow-Cole will start tomorrow’s first Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race at Rockingham from the fourth row of the grid after posting the seventh quickest in qualifying today. The 19 year-old from New Malden, Surrey, in his first season in the tin-top championship, settled in well into the qualifying session in his BMW 320si, improving over the course of the 30 minutes and declared himself happy with his performance.
“It’s all coming together, it was all a bit last minute in testing for me, getting used to the circuit and making positive changes to the car but it came together in the end, “said Tom. “The car felt good and we knew with new tyres in qualifying we could get a good lap out. It’s hard to judge how things will go tomorrow though. If we get a good start off the line then I can hopefully jump up a few places and I think my race pace should be quicker than in qualifying and I should be able to attack the guys in front and come away with a top five position.”
