V8 Supercar star Russell Ingall will swap his Caltex Falcon for one of the fastest watercraft in the world in Sydney on Sunday.
Ingall will be strapped into Bill Barry-Cotter’s Class-1 off-shore Maritimo powerboat on Botany Bay and will reach speeds of up to 250kph.
Ingall completed a “dunk test” with CareFlight Safety Services, the training arm of RACQ CareFlight, at the Miami pool on the Gold Coast in preparation for Sunday’s ride last month.
Ingall is set to reciprocate the ride by taking Barry-Cotter for a
blast in his Caltex Falcon at similar speeds around the Queensland
Raceway in July.
“I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to the ride,” said Ingall.
“Bill is a legend in the racing and boat building business and Sunday is going to be one hell of an experience.”
Barry-Cotter, who is a multiple national Class-1 champion and regarded internationally for his racing and boat-building skills.
“It is always fantastic to have people go for a ride in the Class-1
Maritimo, especially someone the caliber of Russell, who has created a
career out motorsport,” said Barry-Cotter.
