Team BRM Returns To National Formula Ford With Magro Brothers PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 08 September 2006
Team BRM is pleased to announce that it will return to the Australian Formula Ford Championship next weekend at Mallala Raceway, with young Queensland drivers John and Kain Magro behind the wheel.

Fresh from having sealed their third Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship – and first ever Australian Drivers Championship - with driver Ben Clucas last weekend, the team will return to the Australian Formula Ford Championship for the second time this season after making their debut at this year’s Clipsal 500.

Driver Ben Clucas scored a podium in the team’s first ever National Formula Ford start, a remarkable achievement following a short buildup to the event.

Despite sitting aside for the rounds since, the team is ready for its return to competition this weekend with its pair of Van Diemen RFO6 entries following a number of test days at their home circuit as well as a number of race meetings in the local Formula Ford state series.

The Queensland-based Magro brothers currently sit 2nd (John) and 4th (Kain) in the South Australian Championship after three rounds this year, despite it being just their second year of circuit racing following success in Speedway-style racing in their local region.

Team BRM Formula Ford Manager Mark Rundle said that the team had no expectations heading into the round, the sixth of eight Formula Ford National rounds this year.

“We’re pleased to be able to return to the Australian Formula Ford Championship for our ‘other’ home round, at Mallala,” said Rundle.

“We have done some miles there this season in testing and have developed a lot of setup information and data from the circuit which should help John and Kain come to grips with the National competition as quickly as possible.

“We don’t have too many expectations for the weekend – it will really just be a case of our drivers gaining experience at the top level in what is going to be a very competitive field. We’re looking forward to working with the brothers again and hopefully we have a trouble free weekend.” He said.

Round six of the Australian Formula Ford Championship will be held at Mallala Raceway next weekend, September 15 – 17.
