Team Australia driver Marcos Ambrose will enter his first race at Richmond International Raceway looking for a change of luck at the Circuit City 250 presented by FUNAI in Virginia this weekend. Ambrose will make his first start at the fast 0.75-mile speedway in the Aussie Vineyards-backed #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion, but the Australian has prior experience at Richmond after completing two days of NASCAR Busch Series open testing at the venue in March. Ambrose continues to improve his pace as he gains experience in NASCAR, but a run of poor luck in recent races has prevented the 30-year-old from registering the results his current pace deserves. Ambrose remains in the top 10 in the NASCAR Busch Series standings after 10 races, currently lying in ninth position. Ambrose also lies third in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings after missing out on a potential top 10 finish as a result of contact between other drivers causing a major accident with only 13 laps remaining at Talladega last weekend. This weekend’s Busch Series race in Richmond will be conducted over one day, something unique for Ambrose after years of racing in Europe and Australia. First practice will begin on May 4 at 8:30am local Virginia time with the Circuit City 250 presented by FUNAI scheduled to start at 8:00pm later that evening. Marcos Ambrose – Aussie Vineyards-backed #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion “We had a test at Richmond back in March so although I’ve never raced there we know what is ahead,” said Ambrose. “To be honest the test wasn’t fabulous for us, but we did take a lot away from it and we have done a lot of thinking and planning on how we can make the car better for Richmond. “We’ve made some changes since that test and I’m looking forward to getting out there trying our package out there. “We are really getting better and we have made a lot of progress and improvement in the past few weeks. We just haven’t had a lot of luck over these past few races so the speed we have shown hasn’t turned into the results we perhaps deserved. “It’s a tough business but that’s why we love it. Richmond will be a tough race but we will be looking to get the strong result we’ve missed out on these past few weeks.” 2007 NASCAR Busch Series Points Standings – After Race 10 1.
