Brentwood teenager scores FPA podium hat-trick
Brentwood racing driver Luciano Bacheta has extended his lead in the Formula Palmer Audi Championship to 18 points after taking a win, a second and a third on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
Bacheta, who celebrated his 17th birthday last week, picked up a second and a third place in the two Saturday races, before getting a great start in the third race on Sunday to pass Jolyon Palmer and take his second win of the season. With thousands of fans at Brands Hatch savouring the FPA races as part of the A1GP World Cup Of Motorsport final, Luciano was delighted to have taken victory in front of them.
"This was my first-ever win around Brands Hatch, and to be able to do
it in front of such a big crowd on the GP circuit made it even more
special," he said. "I had a great start but still had to use my
turbo-boost to pass Jolyon, but I managed to make it stick around
Paddock Hill Bend."
Luciano continues to impress onlookers in his first full season of
single-seater racing, and is delighted to have kept up his 100% podium
finish record in an extremely competitive series where all 22 drivers
have identical 300bhp cars. "These three races have definitely been the
toughest of my career so far, as I had to attack, defend and overtake
at the top of my game, and I feel I have come away from it a much
better driver."
The next three Formula Palmer Audi races take place at Snetterton in Norfolk next weekend (12/13 May).
