Team Australia driver Marcos Ambrose will enter his first race at the famous Darlington Raceway in the Diamond Hill Plywood 200 in South Carolina this weekend. Darlington Raceway has earned the tagline of ‘The Track Too Tough To Tame’ over the years and challenges rookies and veterans alike. The 1.366-mile (2.198km) oval features a unique egg shape, with the turns at each end of the venue significantly different. Ambrose will therefore have to compromise on the set-up of the Aussie Vineyards-backed #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion, finding a balance that suits both the wide and long Turns 1 and 2 as well as the tight Turns 3 and 4. The Australian is aiming to jump back into the top 10 in the NASCAR Busch Series overall standings in this 12th race of the season. Ambrose sits 11th in the points, just 12 points behind 10th placed driver Regan Smith. Marcos Ambrose – Aussie Vineyards-backed #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion “Darlington will be a great challenge for us,” said Ambrose. “It is a place with a lot of tradition and a track that really makes the driver and team think about what lies ahead. “We need to keep finishing races and working at our program. While we didn’t run as well as we would have liked last week we still learnt a lot and came away with a positive attitude. “I’m looking forward to Darlington this weekend. The stories you hear about some of the races they’ve had there are really something and to now be racing at the place in the Busch Series is a great feeling.” 2007 NASCAR Busch Series Points Standings – After Race 11 1.
