Current British ICA Champion Ollie Millroy was unable to score any points in either of the finals of the first round of the European Championship after what can only be described as 'one of those weekends'. Following a disappointing qualifying session the 17 year-old lined up grid thirteen for his two heats but after being involved in a crash in the first one was classified 20th and seventh in the second, to give him grid 14 for the first final.
"Although I got involved with a big crash in the first heat I wasn't too disappointed to be starting 14th for the first final. We had been struggling for pace all weekend but I was still pretty confident I could make an impression from the seventh row. However this was not to be because on the very first lap there was another crash in front of me and again a handful of us couldn't avoid it and that was my first final over."
This put Ollie on grid 27 for the second final with a lot to do but again his problems were not over.
"I just didn't have any power and to top it all the team tried a
different type of steering which made the kart difficult to drive. I
had no choice but to eventually come into the pits and call it a day.
The team think the lack of power was due to an electrical fault which
they will check out at the factory."
"Of course I am very disappointed but these weekends happen in all
levels of motor racing so I have to get used to it. Last weekend is
history and I am looking forward to going to France later this week to
increase my lead in the French Championship".
Ollie will return to racing action on Friday when he competes in the
second round of the French Championship, which he is currently leading,
which takes place at Varennes sur Allier located in the Auvergne region
situated half way between Magny-Cours and Vichy.
