POWERnights Announce 2007 TV Deal and Prize Fund |

Thursday evening racing series to be shown on MotorsTV
The new Thursday evening motor racing series POWERnights will be seen on Motors TV this year. Three 1-hour highlight programmes will be filmed by leading motorsport television production company Hayfisher Productions, one for each of the three POWERnights to be held during this August at Silverstone and Donington Park.
Each of the POWERnights events will have a competitor’s prize fund, with a minimum of £4,000 available across the 8 races at each of the Thursday evening events.
In total the POWERnights organisers have agreement for the following:-
· 3 Hours TV coverage with Motors TV
· £4,000 minimum prize fund per event
· Race entry fee at just £250 for comprehensive testing, qualifying and race programme.
· Motorsport News and Motors TV confirmed as event media partners
· The MSA and the MIA are supporting the series
· POWERnights are supporting motorsport industry initiatives Motorsport Foundation and the National Motorsport Week.
“To have an agreement for POWERnights to have three hours of
programming on Motors TV in the first season is great news,” said
POWERnights Series Director Roger Etcell. “TV coverage for
POWERnights, coupled with a significant prize fund for each of the
three meetings, will potentially attract drivers from across the
country to compete. We will be in a position in the coming weeks to
announce the racing content for each of the three events.”
The first POWERnights event will be staged at Silverstone on Thursday 2
August with the second at Donington Park on Thursday 9 August, and
third at Silverstone on Thursday 30 August. Each of the events will be
open to the public from 5pm following a full day of testing and
qualifying. An eight race, non stop race programme will begin at 6pm,
with a post race prize giving paddock BBQ and entertainment open to all
spectators and competitors.
Background to POWERnights
POWERnights is an all-new motorsport series aimed at attracting new
spectators, along with existing enthusiasts, to a weekday evening
4-hour motorsport entertainment programme. POWERnights will feature a
line-up of invitation races with Club and National level drivers in
popular race cars that fill the grids and are easily identified by the
spectator. Short entertaining sprint races with the traditional first
across the line taking the race spoils, no points and no championships.
POWERnights will be held on Thursdays where a full day competitor
programme will provide; general track testing, followed by a short
qualifying session in the afternoon and eight races between 6pm to 9pm.
After the last race the paddock will be open to competitors, teams,
marshals and spectators for a post-race BBQ, Bar and Race Awards
Ceremony.
Each of the POWERnights events will be open to the public from 5pm,
with the opportunity to purchase refreshments/programme etc before
taking their seats/viewing positions for the 6pm start of 8 races.
Tickets will be attractively priced at just £10 Adult in advance (£15
OTD) and kids go FREE and with FREE parking, grandstand seating* and
paddock transfer, POWERnights will provide an affordable, all
inclusive, evening of family entertainment.
For the competitor POWERnights will provide low budget one-day testing,
practice and double-header racing during his/hers mid-week regular
testing schedule, allowing them to arrive early and return home in a
one-day schedule. The POWERnights series website at
