Top Ten Start For Ambrose In Darlington PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 14 May 2007
Team Australia star Marcos Ambrose has made an impressive start to his debut race at Darlington Raceway with a top 10 start to the Diamond Hill Plywood 200 in South Carolina today.

Ambrose will make his first start at the famous venue tomorrow in the Aussie Vineyards-backed #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion as the Australian continues his second season in NASCAR in the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series.

The Australian was 10th in opening practice in Darlington today, before driving to fifth fastest in Rookie Practice and ending the productive day 26th overall in final practice.

Ambrose is aiming to leap back into the top 10 in the overall points standings this weekend as he continues his battle with former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya and young Ford pilot David Ragan for Raybestos Rookie of the Year honours.

Qualifying at Darlington Raceway will be held tomorrow, followed by the Diamond Hill Plywood 200, the 12th race in the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series.

“This is the most abrasive track surface I’ve ever been to so it was an interesting first day here at Darlington,” said Ambrose.

“We had a good day and I’m happy with the package we have brought here.

“You lose a lot of time on this track as the tyres wear down so it’s difficult to know exactly where you are at compared to everyone else, but from our own point of view we had the best day we’ve had in a while and I think we are looking good.

“It’s an interesting race track and I’m definitely looking forward to my first Darlington race.”
