Rodolfo Avila is expectant but ready to star PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 16 May 2007
Nearly two months after competing in the first round of British F3 International Series, Rodolfo Avila will again take to the track for the first round of the International Formula Master (IFM) at Valencia this weekend.

Despite limited testing, the 20 year-old Macau SAR backed driver is eager to start racing again and confident that he is well prepared for the season ahead, but the Macanese Motorsport Ambassador recognizes that is difficult to make a correct preview at the moment. “It’s tricky to preview what is going to happen during the weekend. We never had a collective test session with thirty cars. My car is brand new and just arrived last week. We will do the shakedown in the beginning of the week and just after that we will focus on the setup”, held Avila who will drive a “carbon colour” Formula S2000 during the Spanish meeting.

Avila is expectant but convinced that his lack of testing will not affect his pace at the Spanish circuit and is keen to start his season with a good result. Macanese young driver experienced 15 laps more at the wheel of Cram Competition’s Formula S2000 at Vallelunga last week. “It was a very short test session because the team had two cars available for three drivers. Anyway it was profitable day. I had a chance to feel how different to drive the car is compared to the F3 I drove in the last two years. I have to readapt my driving style to the gearbox, braking and car handling but I am ready to take the challenge and I think my sponsors will benefit from the superior championship media exposure”, said driver supported this year by Macau Government, Macau-slot.com, BNU, CESLAsia, PAL AsiaConsult, TsingTao, Fat Siu Lau Restaurant, Sujika Crafts and PT Asia.

The official practice sessions will commence in Friday morning, followed by the single Qualifying session in the end of the day. Live coverage of IFM’s inaugural race weekend will begin on Saturday 19 May (Race 1) from 12.10 (local time) onwards followed by Sunday’s coverage (Race 2) starting from 13.45 (local time).
