Bratt On The Pace During Opening Day Of Croft Test PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 16 May 2007
will_brattAdderbury racer Will Bratt continued to prove his and the Apotex Scorpio Motorsport team’s front-running pace during the first day of official Formula Renault UK testing at Croft today, the Oxon sensation posting the fourth fastest time overall.

On a dry track during the morning, the 19-year-old produced a best lap of 1m 18.227 seconds (97.80mph) to go fourth quickest less than two 10ths of a second adrift of the top of the timesheets and under five 100ths of a second outside the top three.

Rain throughout the afternoon session meant nobody would get anywhere close to matching times from the morning although a time of 1m 29.373 seconds (85.60mph) from Will during session two saw him placed an impressive third fastest. Importantly, the two drivers ahead of him set their times in drier conditions at the start of the session.

“We had a lot of pace today which was good and I’m very happy with the progress we made”, said Will, “We’re pleased with the times we did this morning and it was good to be inside the top three in the wet this afternoon.

“I’m confident with the pace we’ve shown today, and the good work the team has done with the car, we can be strong during the next two rounds of the championship here at Croft and challenge for more podiums. Hopefully we’ll have a full day of dry weather tomorrow, I’m looking forward to getting back on track.”

So far this season Will’s highlight has been a podium result at Rockingham during round three. He has also achieved a top four result at Thruxton during round five and a brace of top six finishes – the first at Brands Hatch during the opening round of the year and the second at Thruxton during the most recent race, round six.

Official Formula Renault UK Championship testing continues at Croft tomorrow, Thursday, 17th May, during a shared day with the ELF Renault Clio Cup. Rounds seven and eight of the 2007 season will then take place at the North Yorkshire venue just over a fortnight from now on 2nd/3rd June.
