6th Row Start In DTM PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 19 May 2007
British driver Adam Carroll will start from 12th position on the grid in the third round of DTM at the EuroSpeedway, Lausitzring.

Once again times were so close, in what is arguably the world’s toughest touring car series, with just one second between the top 12 after the second session of qualifying. Adam, driving for Team Futurecom-TME in his 2 year old Audi A4, was desperate to get a good grid position and to aid his quest for his first DTM points in tomorrow’s race.

It had been a good start to the weekend which yesterday saw Adam as the quickest Audi driver in practice. The 24 year old from Portadown in Northern Ireland had felt his car struggled with the tyres and that proved no different today.

“Again it was good to get through to the second round of qualifying and I am starting higher up than I have before but the car didn’t work so well with the tyres which was quite a disadvantage in the end. I got the most out of the car that I could. Hopefully my race pace is good and my aim is to score my first DTM points. We always knew that Mercedes would be very dominant here and it was proved today,” said Adam.

Traditionally this circuit has been a Mercedes stronghold and today was no different with them taking the top five positions on the grid. In the final session of qualifying, eight cars battled it out and it was Canadian Bruno Spengler who took pole position.

Tomorrow’s race begins at 2pm across Europe (1pm in the UK).
