Yokohama ADVAN tyres were the product to race on this weekend for the inaugural International Formula Master (IFM) races in Valencia, Spain.
Despite soaring heat and an extremely twisty track, the ADVANs kept IFM drivers on the pace all weekend, starting with 14 cars qualifying within one second of each other on Friday – once again proving the impeccable reputation of the Yokohama tyres.
Today’s second race was won by J.D. Motorosport’s Kasper Andersen in cooler conditions, an environment welcomed by many of the drivers, but of little difference to the Japanese manufacturer who is used to dealing with all kinds of situations as Yokohama Europe Marketing Manager Kazuyoshi Sekiguchi explained.
“Whether we are developing tyres for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, for the
FIA World Touring Car Championship or single-seater racing, the same
precision and dedication goes into our development process to ensure
competitors get the same quality tyres that we have become known for,”
said Sekiguchi. “Dealing with factors such as the heat or the condition
of the track are all part of our day-to-day work.”
As one of the
most experienced drivers within the International Formula Master field,
Cram Competition’s Jerome D’Ambrosio was confident his second place
finish were thanks to his tyres.
“The tyres were constant
throughout the whole weekend,” said D’Ambrosio. “That is not an easy
thing because it’s very warm and there is a lot of rubber on track from
different races taking part. I was expecting things to be especially
hard after today’s safety car but the tyres just stayed constant the
whole time! I think Yokohama have done an amazing job with this tyre
and is a definite contributor to how fast the car is.”
