Last week’s official Formula Renault UK test at Croft Circuit saw front-runner Will Bratt underline his recent form as one of the most consistently quick drivers in the series and with the North Yorkshire venue hosting rounds seven and eight of the season next weekend, 2nd/3rd June, he stands a superb chance of adding to his 2007 podium tally.
The Apotex Scorpio Motorsport ace, who will return to the 2.1-mile track brimming with confidence after a superb performance during the official test, has high hopes of a double-podium finish at Croft with the realistic possibility of also challenging for a win.
Having shown excellent pace throughout the current season to date, the
19-year-old’s current placing of seventh in the driver standings is not
at all reflective of where he should have been at this stage of the
season due to a couple of problematic outings.
The Adderbury racer truly believes he is driving better than ever and
the pace he has shown since the beginning of the 2007 season certainly
confirms that to be the case, Will and his Apotex Scorpio team now
widely regarded as genuine front-runners.
Producing top three performances in three of the four sessions during
the second day of last week’s official test at Croft, Will is looking
forward to the seventh and eighth rounds of the season which could mark
his best weekend of the campaign so far.
“The test went very well, we produced a good solid performance and
there’s no reason why we can’t enjoy some success next weekend”, said
the former T-Car Champion, “I’m fairly hopeful we’ll have two strong
races at Croft and I think we stand a great chance of challenging for a
couple of podiums.
“Importantly, we were consistently quick during both days of the recent
test which bodes very well for us. We also identified a couple of areas
where we can improve by a few 10ths of a second so we’re feeling
confident we can be even faster.”
Will returns to Croft just over a week from now on Friday, 1st June,
for pre-event testing ahead of the seventh and eighth rounds of the
season. Timetable restrictions on Saturday, 2nd June, mean the Formula
Renault UK competitors will only have a single 20-minute qualifying
session to determine the grid for both of the weekend’s races.
Round seven will also take place on Saturday, 2nd June, at 16.25, while
the eighth round of the championship will follow on Sunday, 3rd June,
at 14.00. The second race will be screened live on digital satellite
and cable subscription channel Setanta Sports 2.
