After the exuberance of winning its 100th Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race this afternoon, race three was not so satisfying for Vauxhall.
The team had to work flat-out to get the cars of Tom Chilton and Gavin Smith onto the grid after the excitement of race two.
Just two laps in, though, Chilton retired with clutch failure.
Smith and Fabrizio Giovanardi, who earlier won his first BTCC race, battled with the success ballast earned through their previous good results to finish fifth and sixth respectively.
The day's earlier results were amended after Darren Turner was relegated ten places in round 22, promoting Giovanardi to fourth place. Turner was again penalised in round 23, meaning VX Racing scored its first 1-2 of the season, with Gavin Smith rising to the second step of the podium.
