British driver Adam Carroll cannot wait to give his army of DTM fans something to cheer about at Brands Hatch this weekend.
The Northern Irishman, who is Audi’s only British driver in the championship, is visiting a circuit that he not only knows well, but on which he has tasted success. Now the 24 year old DTM rookie, hopes he can steer his 2005 Audi A4 into the points and there will be big celebrations if he does, it’ll be the first for himself and his team, Futurecom-TME.
“I’ve raced on the Indy circuit on four previous occasions ranging from
Formula Ford 1600 to F3 and I have also I’ve also won various races so
I’ve fond memories of this track“ said Adam.
“I really want to give the fans something to cheer about. We only have
one round of DTM in the UK, which is quite strange considering the
number if British drivers there are. I just hope the crowd will be
cheering for me.”
The average DTM race attendance in 2006 was over 83,000 and peaked last
season at almost 150,000 at Hockenheim. Adam is quickly getting used to
the enthusiasm and loyalty of the fans and is excited about the
prospect of so many British supporters watching him in action.
“I’m really looking forward to racing at ‘home’,” he continued. “There
will be more British support than usual. My sponsor, Ethos Organics, is
taking almost 100 guests so I hope to give them and all the British
public something to shout about.
“I have not driven my Audi at Brands previously but they’ve had good
luck there in the past – last year there were five Audis finishing in
the top-10 including the winner!
“My ultimate aim is to try and get the points for the team. In
qualifying I’d like to get into the third and final session which
essentially means a place on the first four rows. The higher up the
grid I can start will give me the best possible opportunity in the race.
Qualifying takes place on Saturday with the race on Sunday (2pm across Europe, 1pm BST).
