In Hungary he is just ahead of Rigon (Minardi / GP Racing) and Danielsson (Elk)
The second round of the Euroseries 3000 championship at Hungaroring got underway today with two practice sessions. In Budapest the fastest driver was a rookie, Pastor Maldonado who, with the G-Tec team, set Friday's best lap in 1'36"636. The Venezuelan, who is taking part to his race also to get to know the track where he is going to race in GP2, didn't take much time to learn the Hungaroring's secrets.
Fourth after the first half an hour of practice, dominated by Davide Rigon (Minardi/GP Racing), in the second session he managed to beat all his rivals by improving by more than 2 seconds the first session's time. Davide Rigon was second, clocking a time of 1'37"002, just ahead of Alx Danielsson (Elk Motorsport), who set a time of 1'37"128. Behind them, Diego Nunes (Minardi/GP), Luis Razia (Fisichella Motor Sport) and the current championship leader, Oliver Martini (RC Motorsport), with a brake problem.
With the '99 Lola, Davide Amaduzzi was faster than his team mate Andrea
Fausti, despite a technical failure stopping him after a few laps.
Qualifying will take place tomorrow (Saturday) from 9:15 to 9:45, while
race 1 will start at 1:00 pm. Race 2 is scheduled on Sunday, again at
1:00 pm.
