Goetz On Pole With Advan PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 19 June 2007
Maximilian Goetz raced to pole position today in International Formula Master’s (IFM) qualifying thanks to his Yokohama ADVAN tyres.

The Brno circuit is known for its long straights and never-ending corners, providing a very special challenge for drivers and tyres alike, but the ADVANs delivered once again lap after lap.

“I could have posted a fast time straight away with these tyres,” said Goetz who drives for ISR. “Traffic was an issue though which is why it took me a few attempts to post my fastest time. To break into the 1:52’s is great; I can go fast when it is needed especially in qualifying where tyres need to perform straight away. I think Yokohama is doing a great job.”

Competition was fierce with the top five drivers all qualifying within one second of each other and Italy’s Giuseppe Terranova and Salvatore Gatto both posting the same time for sixth and seventh position.

“To see a driver post fast times as Goetz did all day today, in both free practice sessions and in qualifying is very satisfying for a tyre manufacturer,” said Yokohama Europe Marketing Manager Kazuyoshi Sekiguchi. “It shows our product’s consistency. But to then see five drivers all qualify so closely together enforces the ADVAN’s ability to deliver grip regardless of driving styles and car set-ups.”
