D'Ambrosio Masterclass in Brno PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 19 June 2007
Cram Competition's Jerome D'Ambrosio completed a masterful weekend in Brno with a second win in today's action-packed International Formula Master (IFM) race.

Proving once again that overtaking is infinitely possible in this class of single-seater racing, the 21-year-old pushed his Formula S2000 all the way to the top from eighth place on the grid.

Italy's Giuseppe Terranova finished second despite overtaking his Alan Racing team- mate Salvatore Gatto at the start for the lead. The Italian lost his first place to D'Ambrosio after the Belgian got a better re-start following a safety car period.

Third place went to J.D Motorsport's Chris van der Drift for the second time this weekend. The Dutchman enjoyed an on-track battle with D'Ambrosio for most of the race, providing superb entertainment for the Czech Republic fans at the track, before settling for third.

Jerome D'Ambrosio, Cram Competition "It was a fantastic race; I'm as happy as a child who gets his first Christmas present! I made up two positions at the start, in the first corner, and it was so much fun. From then on, most of my overtaking manoeuvres were on the outside coming into the second corner, as I was quite quick out of the first corner. It was a really fun race.

"I was on the limit throughout but that's what racing is all about. It all went well, the car is great to drive and it's very quick in corners. We made a big step with the team this weekend. We take the result from this and hope there is more to come.

"I came here with the secret goal to win both races; obviously I didn't tell anyone but I have now achieved this and it's a great feeling!"

Giuseppe Terranova, Alan Racing
"I got a really good start. The tyres warmed up well on the warm-up lap which helped me to overtake my team-mate. At the end of the race, I was under pressure from van der Drift but I tried to be as fast as I could in the parts of the circuit I knew I was good and made sure there was enough of a gap between us."

Chris van der Drift, J.D. Motorsport
"It was very close racing today. The re-start after the safety lap was good; we all bunched up quite close and I took advantage of that into the first corner. I can't wait to go to Porto now as I love street circuits. We had two third places this weekend which is a great result for the team. I hope we can do the same in Portugal."
