Team VIP Petfoods Racing Bloodline Set to Boil in Darwin |

While racing dynasties are nothing new, race fans at this weekend’s Darwin Sky City Challenge, which includes round three of the Carrera Cup series, will have the chance to witness a slightly different on-track family rivalry, courtesy of Team VIP Petfoods.
While it is nothing new for siblings to regularly compete on track or for sons to follow in their father’s footsteps, it is a slightly different situation when father and son face off against each other, running wheel to wheel on the race track.
This weekend, just as it has for the past four Carrera Cup seasons,
Team VIP Petfoods will be represented in part by team owner Tony Quinn
and 25 year-old son Klark on the start grid.
Waiting in the wings, or maybe the four-wheeled shadow of this dynamic
father and son duo, is an emergent Quinn prodigy, with Klark’s two year
old son Ryder an enthusiastic spectator at most of his dad’s and
grandfather’s events.
“Ryder really loves coming along and seeing his dad and pop in action,” grinned Klark.
“As for whether he gets into racing, it is looking likely but we will just have to wait and see.
“Racing with my dad is a great experience, it is something not everyone
gets to do and I appreciate the chance to get out there and have fun
and spend time with family at the same time.”
Just as Klark gives the thumbs up to family racing, father Tony agrees
wholeheartedly - with the Gold Coast’s fastest Scotsman enthusiastic
about the benefits of racing.
“Klark is doing a great job, and it is always good to see Ryder smiling and cheering from the sideline,” said Tony.
“To compete all over the country and overseas with my son is a great
gift that not everyone is able to experience, and I am grateful we are
able to race side by side without too many problems.
“Although you never know, he may just try and punt me off one day!”
There’s little doubt in the adage, the family that plays together, stays together, rings true in this case.
Tony and Klark have mastered a great family business relationship with
the pair sharing the workplace as well as the team’s workshop.
Klark is the production manager at the Gold Coast-based VIP Petfoods
enterprise – Australia’s number one producer of chilled petfoods.
Whether Ryder goes on to join the team in the future remains to be
seen, however the original father and son duo are sure to provide
plenty of racing action, side by side in the highly competitive Porsche
series with defending Carrera Cup champion and teammate Craig Baird.
