Date Change For Cheviot Stages PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 03 July 2007
The organisers of the The UTS CHEVIOT National Rally 2007 (National A) and the Keith Knox Stages Rally 2007 (National B) have recently been advised that due to a large MOD Excercise on the Otterburn Ranges, the original date of 21st October 2007 is no longer be available to them.

As a result, they have been given a new date of 11th November 2007 and are currently speaking with all the Championship Co-ordinators regarding this change of date and wish to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Obviously they are disappointed about this date change but it is completely beyond their control. The MOD have the right to cancel the use of their land at anytime up to 48 hours before the event, so any rally organisers using military land are completely under their control in such circumstances.

Chairman of Whickham and District Motor Club, Paul Hughes, commented: "The problem we are going to have with changing dates is that the championships have to get approval from all of their registered competitors to approve a date change. We are therefore looking to competitors to support the date change that has been enforced upon us. We are also confident, that because there are only two events on Otterburn Ranges in 2007, which offers some of the best tarmac rallying in the UK, we will still attract a full entry."

This year the events will be qualifying rounds of the following championships:

    * MSA Asphalt Rally Championship
    * BTRDA Ashphalt Championship
    * BTRDA Rally Challenge
    * The Tyrespot NE Tarmac Championship
    * HRCR Northern Historic Championship
    * Beatsons Border Rally Championship
    * Compact M3 Cup
    * SGP ANECCC Championship
    * Brick & Steel 205 Ecosse Challenge

Both Events and the Service Area will be based on the Otterburn Ranges and regulations will be available for download in early September
