Classy Queensland Kris Walton has set the pace throughout yesterday’s practice for round six of the Supaloc Australian Saloon Car Championship at Phillip Island raceway.
Driving his Talbrace Ford Falcon AU, Walton topped the time sheets in all three sessions at the cold and wind swept island circuit, and finished eight tenths of a second faster than fellow state resident Scott Nicolas in the Oki Print Ford.
Third fastest was South Australia’s Kevin Weeks in the best of the
Holden Commodore VT’s just ahead of SA’s Steve Kwiatkowski (Falcon),
and the Fords of Peter Dane (NSW) and Matt Lovell (SA) ahead of the
South Australian Holdens of Shawn Jamieson and John Goodacre which both
blew engines and went home to early.
Another who also had problems was championship leader Bruce Heinrich
(SA). His Falcon suffered a broken fan belt on the out lap of session
one then had the bonnet fly up and smash the windscreen at the
beginning of session two.
The Australian Saloon Car Company (TASCCO) is a foundation member of
the CAMS National Racing Championship, one of the five core categories
(Production Cars, F3, Saloon Cars, Commodore Cup and GT/Porsche) in
partnership with CAMS that now make up the Shannons Nationals.
The popular six cylinder Holden Commodore verse Ford Falcon category is
supported by Supaloc Steel Building Systems, Pedders Suspension, Kumho
Tyres, Xtreme Clutch, EMS Fuel Injection, Cebco Brakes and CSA Alloy
Wheels.
