Racing Cars And Stars Roar Into The Dolphin Shopping Centre |

Dolphin Shopping Centre visitors, motorsport and Scalextric fans are in for a treat on Thursday 23 August when the British F3 series-leading Hitech Racing car and the Brookspeed Team Trimite British GT Dodge Viper Competition Coupe will be displayed pride of place outside Marks & Spencer. The Scalextric roadshow will also roar into the Centre for the first time ever, until Saturday 25 August, giving shoppers the chance to try their hand or even challenge some of Britain’s up and coming future motorsport champions.
In a Dolphin Shopping Centre first, motorsport fans are set to flock to
the Centre and seize the rare opportunity to get up close to these
beautiful racing machines. The cars will be on display until 5.30pm
when they will head off to race at Thruxton circuit, Hampshire, to
compete in the Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series and
the Avon Tyres British GT Championship on 25&26 August.
Although many of us will never have the pleasure of driving a GT
marque, Dolphin Shopping Centre visitors can be a racing driver for the
day on the new amazing Scalextric Digital layout. Try your skills
against fellow shoppers or even some of the best British F3 & GT
racing drivers in the country on two four-lane bespoke tracks, one oval
and one figure of eight, located outside Beales and Evans.
Dolphin Shopping Centre Manager, Jerry Stampfer, commented: “This event
is a real first for both the Centre and Poole. It’s fantastic to
welcome two of Britain’s top motorsport teams, representing some of the
best UK racing championships, not to mention the drivers who are giving
up their valuable time to be here. There is a strong fraternity of
motorsport fans in the area so I hope they all take the opportunity to
support this event. I’m also looking forward to having a race on the
Scalextric, but I don’t think I will be quite up to racing standard.”
The Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series and the Avon
Tyres British GT Championship have teamed up with the Dolphin Shopping
Centre to offer the exclusive opportunity to rub shoulders with the
motor racing champions of the future. First prize in the Dolphin
Shopping Centre free prize draw not only includes a pair of entrance
tickets to attend the Thruxton race meeting on Sunday 26 August but the
chance to actually walk among both the British GT and British F3 cars
as they line up on the racing grid.
The winner will also be privileged to take a behind the scenes tour of
the Hitech Racing and Brookspeed Team Trimite garages. Two additional
pairs of entry only tickets for Sunday 26 August are also up for grabs,
for second and third prizes. The winners will be drawn in the Centre at
5pm on Thursday 23 August. Simply pick up your entry form and post it
in the competition post box next to the cars in the Main Mall.
There’s even the chance for one lucky shopper to walk away with the
bonus prize of a fantastic three-car Scalextric Digital Super GT set,
to be drawn at 5pm on Saturday 25 August. To complete your adrenalin
fuelled visit to the Dolphin Shopping Centre, visitors can also take a
pitstop at Argos or Hoggosaurus Toymaster to find the latest Scalextric
