Reigning British and Italian kart champion, Jack Harvey, heads to his home circuit of PF International in Lincolnshire this weekend with the aim of retaining his Kartmasters Grand Prix title at the one-off international event.
The Newark Steel backed racer has the chance to pick up his third title of the 2007 season over the course of the weekend, as he takes to the grid in what is one of the hardest single events on the karting calendar. After a successful Italian Championship and qualifying as the top driver for the European Championships next month, Jack is keen to score a good result in the UK.
“I’ve been looking forward to Kartmasters all season,” he said. “It’s
going to be a tough weekend as most of the top drivers from across
Europe come to take part as the factory teams want to do well there. My
ultimate aim is to win the JICA class title again and it’s certainly
what I’m going there to try and achieve,” he added.
The factory Maranello Kart driver took a win during his first ever race
weekend for the Italian manufacturer at the circuit and his testing
speed and times have been impressive in the run up to the event. With
no championship points or positions on the line Jack is fired up for
what he knows could be one of his hardest of the season.
“As defending champion there will definitely be plenty of drivers who
want to beat me there, especially those who are racing in the UK this
season and are trying to me an impression,” he said. “It can be a bit
of a lottery, but you have to stay at the sharp end of the grid and do
the best job possible, not just on the track but on the set-up of the
kart and stay out of trouble.”
“We know that the kart is good around there and the team is fired up to
go for the win, so I’ll be going out in every session with the
intention of being the fastest and see where it can put me over the
course of the weekend, I’m really looking forward to the competition,”
he added.
