Razia Flies With ELK: Maiden Pole at Nurburgring Rigion and Nunes (Minardi/GP) Have to Catch Up PDF Print E-mail

The Brazilian Luiz Razia, who joined Elk Motorsport, catched his maiden pole position in Euroseries 3000, which is having his fifth seasonal round at Nurburgring. The 18-years-old from Bahia, fastest since the practice sessions, in Germany stopped the clock on 1'20"427, beating the Minardi/GP Racing duo. Behind the South American today (Saturday) afternoon at 15:20 (20 laps) will start Davide Rigon.

The series leader tried his best to get his third 2007 pole, but had to set up with his second place (1'20"445), just 18 thousands of a second slower than Razia. Rigon preceeded his team-mate Diego Nunes, who clocked a 1'20"488. Behind him, on second row, will start the rookie Manuel Saez Merino (Elk Motorsport), who got to know very quickly
the Lola-Zytek and posted a time of 1'20"820. Completing the great performance from Elk, the fifth place of the Moroccan Mehdi Bennani in 1'21"269, who preceeded Oliver Martini (RC Motorsport), whose best lap was in 1'21"314. The fight for the pole was exciting, with several lead changes. In the end the first seven drivers are split by just a second and the race promises to be very open.
