Webb in his first drive in V8 Supercars
Glenfords Racing has warmed up for the Betta Electrical 500 with a season best practice session where Marcus Marshall set the 18th fastest time in the Ford V8 Supercar.

After an initial shakedown lap and some alterations in the pit, Marshall in the Ford Glenfords-AEG V8 Supercar posted a 1:14.1441 before pitting again to make some small adjustments.

A red flag stopped the session briefly before the Glenfords Racing team set out to work on a race setup at a track they had yet to compete at the V8 Supercar level.

After 14 laps, Jonathon Webb jumped into the Glenfords-AEG V8 for his first run in an official V8 Supercar session.

Setting times in the one-minute fifteen bracket, Webb settled into his new environment and gained valuable experience among other V8 drivers.

After the break in between sessions, Marshall took over driving duties and set about posting a new fastest lap of 1:13.3756 having him in 29th position before pitting again after 26 laps in the Ford V8.

Webb again had some more valuable time behind the wheel and felt much more comfortable in his new surrounds.

Posting a 1:12.1692, the Glenfords-AEG Falcon shot up to 20th position with less than ten minutes in the session remaining.

Marshall again followed his fastest lap with a brilliant 1:11.9738 to climb up to 18th position for the 2.5 hour session and a season best performance for the Glenfords Racing team.

MARCUS MARSHALL: "We made really good progress in the car today, the guys worked really well during the session to get the changes and adjustments done quickly and we have put our selves inside the top twenty which is a great start to our weekend."

"Obviously there's a long way to go but we now will work non fine tuning the car for that extra bit of speed.but overall I'm really happy and it is a great confidence boost for the whole team."

JONATHON WEBB: "It was a great experience to get into the car and start putting down some times.I felt a lot more comfortable and confident in my second stint in the car and my main goal is to keep the car straight but also make sure the car is still going around consistently quick and in a good position."

"I'm looking forward to the co-drivers practice session tomorrow which will give me a good chance to get on the track with guys I am likely to be racing against come Sunday."

PAUL CRUICKSHANK: "It is very early and the race is still a long way away but today was a good one for the team and Marcus has done a really good job to put in those times and have us in 18th position."

"The guys in the garage were very impressive during the long 2.5-hour session and deserve a bit of a rap too.

"But we've had a good start to the weekend and now it is even more important to capitalise on it over the weekend."
