Series Finale on Thursday 30 August at
Silverstone
The final POWERnights event of 2007 will be held at
Silverstone on Thursday 30 August with large grids across the four race
groups of easily recognisable cars to entertain the crowds. Drivers from
Northamptonshire are amongst the favourites to carry off the POWERnights
honours on Thursday evening.
Gordon Milner from Northampton has been the most successful
driver in POWERnights so far, taking three wins from four race starts in his
Toyota MR2, including two wins at Silverstone on August 2. Milner will be
lining up in the ‘Battle
of the Japanese Roadsters’ races where the MR2 racers take on the
drivers from Mazda MX5 championship in a head-to-head battle to see which
Japanese sportscar comes out on top.
From the east of the county Rockingham’s
Gavin Wills will be looking to add another trophy or two to his collection in
the Invitation Formula Ford races, but the double race winner from the 2
August will once again face stiff opposition from Silverstone’s William
Zollo. The large Formula Ford grid has been further boosted by the addition
of cars from the Silverstone Acedemy, which is based at the home of the
British Grand Prix.
In the Invitation Classic Saloons & Road
Sports races Robin Ward from
Brackley will be competing in his BMW 2002 TI saloon, the car with which he
finished on the podium last time out at Silverstone. Ward, who is the Team
Principle for the Damax British GT race team, is hoping that he can climb a
little higher in the races for The Avis Trophy to see what the view is like
from the top step of the podium this Thursday.
There will be eight races in total this Thursday
with each race group competing in two 10-minute races. The four race groups
at Silverstone are:-
