Ambrose carries confidence into California PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 31 August 2007
Marcos Ambrose is carrying confidence into the Camping World 300 at Californiaambrosedaytona1-th Speedway in Fontana, California this weekend.

Ambrose will use the same car he raced two weeks ago in Michigan for this week’s event at California, that car proving a strong package for the 2.0-mile oval in Brooklyn, Michigan as Ambrose qualified sixth and finished 19th.

The Wood Brothers/JTG Racing crew has made further improvements to the car, which featured a new body in Michigan. The Australian is hoping that he can push for his fifth top 10 finish for the season this weekend at California, which like Michigan, is a fast two-mile speedway. Race day could bring some luck for Ambrose, as he races the Aussie Vineyards-backed #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion on his 31st birthday on September 1, but he knows that it takes more than luck to achieve success in the NASCAR Busch Series, which will run its 27th race for the 35-event season this weekend in Fontana.

“I think California has the potential to be a strong race for our team,” said Ambrose.thumb_marcosbristol1-th

“We are taking the same car we ran at Michigan to California. We ran a new body at Michigan and were really pleased with how it ran.

“The team has done some more work on that body and made some improvements on it so we should be looking good for California.

“The oval at Fontana is a track I really like and the team is progressing nicely. We should be in for a good shot for a top 10, which would be a great reward for all the hard work and effort our guys have been putting it.

“I think if we can get the car right and things go our way this could be a good race for us, which would be a nice birthday present, that’s for sure.”
