Quaife-Hobbs confirms Eurocup Formula Renault Debut PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 01 September 2007
Tonbridge racer Adrian Quaife-Hobbs will make his Formula Renault debut next weekend when he competes in the Eurocup Formula Renault race at the Renault Festival at Donington Park.  The FBMW racer will drive one of two BVM Minardi cars, which for next weekend has been vacated by GP2-bound Finnish racer Markus Niemelä.

“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to drive a Formula Renault car,” said Adrian, who is currently competing at Knockhill in the final round of the FBMW Championship.  “When the chance came up I had to accept as it will give me more track time in the car, in preparation for an assault in Renaults next season.

“BVM Minardi is a good team, they’re only in their first season in Eurocup but already they’ve had some great results including a second place last time out, so it will be good to be out there next weekend with a team that’s already proven.  I’m not going out there expecting to be challenging for wins or podiums or anything, but to get as much time on track as possible.

“However I will still be pushing hard starting with the testing at the track on Friday.”

The event will kick off with testing on Friday prior to official qualifying on Saturday and the two races will take place on Sunday.  An expected 100,000 plus crowd is expected to cram into the Leicestershire track, after 92,000 people visited the event last year.

Headline race will the World Series by Renault Championship with other supporting races for Formula Renault UK and the Elf Renault Clio Cup.
