Members of the public will have the
rare chance to rub shoulders and wheels with some of the best drivers across
the spectrum of world motorsport at Autosport International 2008, with the aim
of raising over £50,000 for David Brabham’s fundraising organisation www.racing4charity.com
This truly unique fundraising event
on the Motorsport World kart track on Friday 11 January will see the battle of
the motorsport championships continue, following the 2007 Racing 4 Charity
event at the NEC. Drivers from the realms of ALMS, DTM, Touring Cars, British
and FIA GT, British F3, World Rallying, karting and Formula Renault will be
taking to the track to beat rival championship drivers and help raise more
money than ever before.
David Brabham commented:
“After the success of the event last January we aim to go much bigger
this year and raise at least £50,000, which will directly benefit a notable
list of charities. We had a terrific response to the race at Autosport International
2007 and we are hoping this ambitious event will attract even more support. A
lot of work is going into the planning of the 2008 event and we’re going
at it with all guns blazing, trying to improve the event and raise considerably
more money.”
The fun starts at 1.30pm on the Motorsport World kart track in Hall 4, where a
30-minute qualifying session will precede the extended one and a half hour
race, which starts at 3.15pm.
This bigger and better event will
boast 20 teams, each with up to four celebrity drivers and two members of the
public. Star drivers already confirmed include David Brabham, Andy Priaulx, Susie Stoddart,
Paul O'Neill, Andrew Kirkaldy, Tim Mullen, Chris Niarchos, Tim Sugden, Jonny
Cocker, Chris Holmes, Jeremy Metcalfe, Adam Christodoulou, Nathan Caratti,
James Walker, Ryan Lewis, Johnny Mowlem, Alexander Sims, David Epton and Will
Bratt.
You can realise your racing dreams and race
alongside motorsport stars and celebrities for just £300, which includes two entrance
tickets to Autosport International 2008 for Friday 11 January, usually an
exclusive trade day. Not only will you be the first members of the public to
get a sneak preview of the world’s biggest motorsport show, but
you’ll be making an invaluable contribution to charity.
Each team will also be encouraged to seek
sponsorship. Negotiations to secure a high-profile title sponsor for the event
are also well under way whilst the event will be televised.
Charities already set to benefit from what promises
to be Racing 4 Charity’s most successful fundraising event yet include:
Bliss (The Premature Baby Charity), The Richard Burns Foundation, Whizzkids,
NARA (The Breathing Charity), Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation,
Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, and Christies Hospital
Cancer Ward (Manchester).
