Every year in September folks at the Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee and elsewhere around the world gather to celebrate the birthday of Mr. Jasper Newton Daniel.
Jack was born in September 1850, but due to a courthouse fire the exact date is unknown – the folks in Lynchburg taking a practical approach to the problem and celebrating for the entire month.
"Each year we celebrate Mr. Jack's birthday across the world, and as thanks to our affiliation with Perkins Motorsport and the millions of V8 race fans across the country we’ve decided to kick off the celebration at this weekend’s Sandown 500," said Jonny Croft, Group Brand Manager for Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey.
"We couldn't pass up the chance to celebrate at such an exciting event. We think Mr. Jack would be proud and we're looking forward to one heck of a party!"
To mark the special occasion, the Old No.7 Jack Daniel's Holden Commodores will feature specially painted "Happy Birthday, Mr Jack" bonnets during the Sandown 500 race.
The celebrations are open to the public and kick off at 10.00am at Sandown Raceway this Saturday (15 September) at the Jack Daniel’s Experience – a 19m “mobile Jack Daniel’s distillery” designed to give race fans a "taste of Lynchburg, our worldwide motorsport affiliations and how we make whiskey."
Jack Daniel’s Racing team owner Larry Perkins and regular drivers, Shane Price and Jack Perkins, who will be driving the #7 Commodore – and enduro signings, Marcus Marshall and Kayne Scott, driving the #11 car, will also be there to serve Jack Daniel’s birthday cake to fans.
Additionally, fans will have the opportunity to win one of the specially painted "Happy Birthday, Mr Jack” bonnets – a unique collectors item – by simply registering their details at the Jack Daniel’s Experience over the weekend.
So please come and join us for a slice birthday cake in honor of the Distillery's founder, who would have turned 157 this September! We think Mr. Jack would be proud that folks still pause to raise his name and his whiskey in his honour.
