Mark Skaife still a chance to race at Sandown 500 PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 14 September 2007
A surprise visit to the Holden Racing Team pits by Mark Skaife on his release from hospital after an appendicitis operation yesterday caught his team-mates unawares as they prepared for practice today.

Skaife spoke to fellow drivers and team members for 15 minutes prior to returning home for further recuperation.
“I’m feeling pretty good actually,” said Skaife. “I just dropped in to say ‘G’day’ to the guys and see how things were going.”

HRT Team Manager Rob Starr rates Skaife a chance to race on Sunday depending on how he recovers overnight.  “He [Skaife] has to qualify on Saturday and meet a medical check to satisfy officials,” said Starr. “If he feels okay and all this happens he could replace Tony Longhurst and join Glenn Seton in the #2 HRT Commodore.”

HRT’s #22 pairing of Todd Kelly and Nathan Pretty will remain in place regardless of Skaife’s condition.
