Sixteen
drivers are gearing up for the first two rounds of the Middle East’s most
popular sports prototype race series, the DHL Gulf Radical Cup, which kicks off
at the Dubai Autodrome in the United Arab Emirates on 19th October.
Organised
by Radical Sportscar distributor, GulfSport Racing, the Dubai based series has
been invited back to the Hermann Tilke designed circuit in the Kingdom of
Bahrain to support the biggest event outside of Formula One - the Desert 400 on
3rd November – which features the mighty 650 horse power Australian
V8 Supercars.
The
DHL Gulf Radical Cup represents a significant milestone in the development of
national motor racing in the Middle East as a genuine home-grown pan-Gulf
sports prototype championship take to the grid. The drivers very much mirror
the diversity and demographics of the region, with drivers from Bahrain, UAE,
Jordan, France, Holland, Canada, Spain, Ireland and the UK. All eyes will be on the battle expected
between current Gulf Radical Cup Champion Karim Al-Azhari and Bahrain’s Fahad
Al-Musalam racing for the new Team777.
The
series returns for the Dubai Motorsport Festival on 17th November
with the last round of the FIA GT3 European Championship followed by the Grand
Racing series with the new GP2 Asia and
Speedcar Series events.
