Bradshaw delight at maiden victory PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 25 September 2007

The final round of the 2007 Visma Formula Palmer Audi Championship has been won by Tom Bradshaw.

Bradshaw claimed his first ever FPA victory in an incident packed round 20, with previous race winners Tim Bridgman and Jack Clarke forced out on lap two, after an incident with Matt Hamilton.

The Accident Exchange backed Bradshaw was delighted after his win; “The monkeyrace3jbc045.jpg is now off my back, and it’s an unbelievable feeling. I got a pretty good start and once I got ahead of Stefan, I had to work hard to consolidate my advantage. I was looking at my lead on the pit board every lap, and it was fluctuating as much as my heart rate.”

Stefan Wilson’s attentions were on consolidating his second place in the championship, and the F3 test as part of his prize. His position was assured after Bacheta crashed out in the early stages of the race.

Wilson said: “I had to get the job done from pole. Seeing Luciano go off at the chicane was bittersweet, because I knew that second was wrapped up, but he’s a mate as well,”

Bacheta chose a high-risk strategy for the final round, but it was to prove fruitless.

“It was win it, or bin it for me in the last race. I put a load of front end wing on torace3croftjb006.jpg try and give me an advantage, but I overcooked it at the chicane and that was that,” said Bacheta afterwards.

Jason Moore claimed the final spot on the podium, but very nearly snatched second.

“I got a really good run on Stefan down the start finish straight, and had the move lined up. I saw the yellow flag late though, and had to back out. After that, I didn’t get close enough to him to make a clean move,” said Moore.

Matt Hamilton emerged unscathed from his early-race skirmish to finish fourth, ahead of Alex Brundle, who made a number of fine overtaking moves in the middle of the race. Brundle passed Chris Chubb at Tower on lap 11, then pulled away, finishing over eight seconds ahead of Chubb.
