Australian
Formula Ford Championship young-gun James Moffat has been nominated for
the 2007 CAMS Motorsport Personality of the Year award.
Voting
is now open for the 2007 award, with Melbourne resident Moffat among 11
nominees who have been identified as good ambassadors for the sport in
Australia.
Nominees
were selected for their actions during and outside competition, with
criteria based on promoting motorsport in a positive light, being a
good role model for the sport and a fair on-track competitor.
Formula Ford alumni Craig Lowndes and Marcos Ambrose are among the previous winners.
"It's
pretty unexpected, but it's an honour to be nominated and representing
Formula Ford," Moffat, currently third in the Australian Formula Ford
Championship, said.
"Past winners of this award have really set the benchmark for young drivers like myself coming up through the ranks.
"They've
shown that being successful in motorsport isn't just about results on
the track, but also about how you conduct yourself out of the car,
which is something we all try to emulate."
To vote for James and go into the running to win a framed and signed Mark Webber print, head to www.cams.com.au before 5:00pm AEDT on Friday 23 November.
In
the meantime, action from the Sandown Raceway round of the Australian
Formula Ford Championship will be broadcast this Sunday, 30 September,
in a 30-minute package from 12:30pm on Channel 7.
The
next round of the 2007 Australian Formula Ford Championship will be
held at Tasmania's Symmons Plains Raceway on 16-18 November.
