Spirit team heads to Ledenon aiming for victory. PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 27 September 2007

The Spirit Racing team heads out to the sixth round of the European VdeV Endurance Championship with the aim of taking victory in the latest three-hour race. The Spirit Motor Group backed squad has proved it has the pace to dominate the races in the series, taking pole position in every round so far. However, a series of issues has prevented the two-car team from getting the deserved results. For the Ledenon event, the team is better prepared than ever and is keen to bring back silverware from the meeting.

“We certainly hope that both cars will be up there fighting for places on the podium,” said Rob Garofall. “Adam and Jamie had a good test in their 2007 car last week and it should go well around Ledenon.”

Simon (Phillips) and I are effectively second in the championship at this point, so a good solid result for us would help our championship charge along nicely,” he added.

The team will be boosted by finally having new team engineer, Alan Mugglestone, on board from this round onwards. His expertise and experience should certainly help the team stay ahead of the other teams on the grid.

“We’re certainly hoping to come away from Ledenon with a good result,” added Adam Derbyshire. “We’ve been working hard on the development of the 2007 car with Alan and its certainly moving us forwards in terms of pace and drivability. We should be well prepared to be right at the sharp end over the rest of the season now,” he said.

The team will take to the track for qualifying on Saturday, with the three-hour endurance race taking place on Sunday.
