Formula
Master’s (FM) final race saw local talent Marcello
Puglisi claim his first win of the season at the end of an unrelenting
18-lap round in Monza. The Promotorsport driver kept his cool as he
battled
with champion Jérôme D’Ambrosio for most of the race, taking the
chequered flag in front of cheering fans.
D’Ambrosio, driving for Cram Competition, took second place whilst
J.D. Motorsport’s Chris van der Drift confirmed his runner-up status in the driver classification with a third place finish. The
Dutchman’s result also helped seal J.D. Motorsport’s second place in the teams’ standings.
Alan
Racing’s Daniil Move led the race for the first ten laps after
a great start, which saw the Russian overtaking Jenzer Motorsport’s
Rahel Frey and Scuderia Fama’s Massimo Torre. The 21-year-old lost
his lead to Puglisi following a safety car period and eventually
finished fourth.
Marcello Puglisi, Promotorsport
“It’s always hard to fight with someone like
D’Ambrosio, he’s very fast and I had to be careful with my braking as that’s where I think he was stronger. I wanted to do my
best for my team and all the friends and family that are here supporting me so this is great!”
