This weekend Jon Barnes will be racing in the final rounds
of the 2007 Porsche Carrera Cup GB at his home circuit of Thruxton in Hampshire.
The 23 year-old from Southampton will be
looking to add to the 3 podium finishes that he has scored in the last 4 races
after a strong showing in the free practice
sessions at Thruxton back in August.
Jon said, “I am expecting this weekend to be tough because
the other drivers in the championship have already raced at Thruxton in May
this year. Also, there are no free practice
sessions on Friday at this circuit, so I will need to jump into the car and be
straight on the pace in qualifying on Saturday morning.
“The free practice
sessions were actually run back in August at Thruxton and I had a very
encouraging day, ending up third fastest. Hopefully I will be able to get on
the front two rows of the grid in qualifying at that will put me in a great
position to continue my strong run of podiums.
"I have a lot of people coming to the circuit to
support me this weekend and I don't want to disappoint! I am looking to end
this season on a high, and Thruxton really would be a great place to get my
first win in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB."
Jon Barnes is proud to be
supported this season by Technart Printers, Headliners Hair Salon, Attley's
Roofing, RE-USE, LA Fitness and Arai Helmets.
The Porsche Carrera Cup GB supports the British Touring Car
Championship. Carrera Cup races are shown live on digital, satellite and cable
TV channel Setanta Sports, with TV coverage also shown later in the year in the
Motorsports UK programmes
shown on ITV1 and Men&Motors Television.
