 Fleetcare TanderSport has today announced a significant expansion of its racing operations in preparation for an expanded assault on the 2008 Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship for the CAMS Gold Star.
Co-Owned by Toll HSV Dealer Team V8 Supercar driver Garth Tander and the current leader of the Formula 3 championship, Leanne, TanderSport was formed as a professional racing team half way through the 2005 season.
Since its inception the team has won two races, scored 11 podiums and has consistently been the most competitive single-car entry in the championship.
A flow-on effect from its start-up success, the team will expand to a multi-car operation with new premises, a new transporter and more cars in readiness for the 2008 racing season.
Team Co-Owner Garth Tander recently flew to Europe to take delivery of a Dallara F307 – Mercedes Benz Formula 3 car, from championship winning British F3 team Hi-Tech Racing, to contest next year’s Australian Drivers Championship.
The team is currently also investigating the potential to purchase a second 2007-specification car to form a multi-car assault on the ’08 championship.
The team’s current 2004-specification, championship-leading Dallara will be entered in the National Class.
To coincide with their expanded squad of thoroughbred Formula 3 cars, the team has also recently purchased a new workshop in Suburban Melbourne, and a multi-car transporter.
The new TanderSport home features top-level vehicle preparation facilities as well as office space for team administration needs.
”In 2008 we are out to show that TanderSport is a professional multi-car team out to compete with the very best,” Leanne Tander said.
”With our new workshop, new transporter and new cars it’s our aim to be the best in the business and give drivers the chance to win every race they start.
”The new car comes from the team that won the British F3 championship this year, so its capabilities have already been shown.
“We are now looking for drivers – with a suitable budget and the drive to win – who can join us next year to challenge for the Gold Star title once again.
