Round Seven Preview - Mallala, South Australia - October 13-14 The front runners in the 2007 Supaloc Australian Saloon Car Championship can’t be excused for not coming up with a game plan to beat current series leader Bruce Heinrich and his Ford Falcon AU. Kris Walton, Scott Nicolas, Steve Kwaitkowski and company have had over a month to find what will be needed to take down Heinrich on his home turf - Mallala Motorsport Park – this weekend October 13-14. It’s the second visit to the South Australian circuit for the championship and Heinrich is out to win again. The series has been dominated by South Australian and Queenslander drivers. Walton, one of the Sunshine State’s best, has been the one to take the fight up to Heinrich in his Falcon, but he has also been dogged with bad luck – on a couple of occasions he has been pushed off or fallen off, the track whilst in a challenging position.
Nicolas meanwhile has been blindingly quick but his Falcon but mechanical gremlins have put paid to his chances on a couple of occasions and the same could be said for the South Australian Kwaitkowski who usually figures near or on the podium by the end of the day.
South Australians dominate this round with 18 taking on just two from New South Wales, one from Victoria and three Queenslanders. Included in the locals will be Holden Commodore driver Shawn Jamieson who along with John Goodacre were heading home early from the last round at Phillip Island after engine failures in practice.
Not long ago Kevin Weeks announced that he was committed to a full time return to the series and was one of the prominent Holdens at there, but he had an issue with a black flag that effectively put him out of one race. Not so Victorian Paul Pennisi who had his best round to date and was particularly solid in the wet conditions.
The Australian Saloon Car Company (TASCCO) is a foundation member of the CAMS National Racing Championship, one of the five core categories (Production Cars, F3, Saloon Cars, Commodore Cup and GT/Porsche) in partnership with CAMS that now make up the Shannons Nationals.
The popular six cylinder Holden Commodore verse Ford Falcon category is supported by Supaloc Steel Building Systems, Pedders Suspension, Kumho Tyres, Xtreme Clutch, EMS Fuel Injection, Cebco Brakes and CSA Alloy Wheels.
