The first-ever 24-Hour Kart Race at
Autosport International 2007 was a smoking success. Teams travelled from across
the UK and Europe to compete for the inaugural spoils
and the event was undoubtedly voted a huge success by all involved.
The 24-Hour Kart Race will return to
the Karting Show at Autosport International, 10-13 January 2008 at the NEC, Birmingham, presented by the newly-named
Karting 4 U company. The 2008 race will be based on the successful 2007 event
format but will offer drivers a more challenging circuit, with longer straights
and wider corner entry and exits, ensuring more overtaking opportunities.
Drivers will also benefit from being at the wheel of the new MSW KV1 corporate
kart, boasting a more powerful Honda 200cc engine.
The 24-hour arrive and race format
presents a level playing field which is open to anybody who has a passion for
karting and can handle an adrenalin-fuelled 24-hours.
James
Heap from Karting 4 U commented: “We believe this is the biggest indoor
24-hour karting event in the UK
and we are delighted to be running the race for the second consecutive year.
There was a tremendous response to the inaugural event in January 2007 and we
hope that the 2008 race will form an exciting part of the new Karting Show at
Autosport International.”
The mega 2008 event will start on Thursday
10 January at 10am with a one-hour free practice
session followed by a 30-minute qualifying session to decide the grid at 11.15am. The lights will go green on the 24-Hour Kart Race at
12pm and the winners will take the top step of the podium
on Friday afternoon.
This truly unique race experience is
open to just 15 teams with a minimum of four drivers. The team entry fee is
£1,499 which entitles each entrant to a fully maintained kart, race suit,
