Racing in a new track and under
difficult weather conditions in Hockenheim, Kuba Giermaziak continued his
progression and secured 10th place in the final standings of the
Formula Renault Northern European Cup.
The 40 minute Free Practice
session meant there was very little time to learn the track, but even so
Kuba put on his best qualifying performance of the season, being 10th
and 6th fastest in the double qualifying session.
The first race was held early on
Sunday morning, with a damp track and very cold temperatures. Kuba had a
bad start, and lost some places. To make things worse, the rookie driver
tangled with another driver in the first lap, losing his front wing. After
coming into the pits for repairs, Kuba went back out and finished in 17th
place.
There were more problems at the
start of the second race, as the young driver from Poland went off the track
trying to avoid a car that had spun in front of him. He got back on track
and moved steadily up to 13th place in the end.
This weekend’s results
were enough for Kuba to finish in 10th place in the overall NEC
standings, a great achievement in his first year racing formula cars! His
remarkable progression impressed everyone at the Motopark Academy
team, and plans are already under way to build on this in 2008.
“It was a tough weekend,
and a tough season, but I am very happy with the work we did and the
overall results! I want to thank everyone in the team for their effort this
year!”
With the 2007 Formula Renault
Northern European Cup coming to an end, Kuba Giermaziak is already busy
making plans for 2008. Watch this space!
