The
Winter Series of Formula Renault is seen as a stepping stone into the highly
prestigious Formula Renault UK championship, which supports the incredibly
popular British Touring Car races, and from which many recent Formula 1
drivers have emerged, such as Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen, and
Heikki Kovalainen.
The
Winter Series sees no fewer than 14
nationalities of drivers in the full to capacity 32 car grid, all looking to
make the transition into the prestigious UK Series next year. All eyes will
be on them to spot the future rising stars.
The
Loughborough based Apotex Scorpio Motorsport team have just completed a
highly successful season in the British Touring Car supporting series, as 3rd
highest points scoring entrants and their number 1 driver, “BRDC Rising Star”
Will Bratt, finishing 3rd in the Formula Renault UK drivers
championship.
KC
commented “its great to have a team of Apotex Scorpio’s experience behind me,
it will push me onto the next level. They are a great team and its easy to fit
in with them. I’ve learnt a huge amount from this year, with my family running
the car, but next year is going to be another huge step and we need to be at
the same level as the front running professional teams.”
“We
can do this with Apotex Scorpio and I’m looking to show this in the Winter
Series competition.”
Kieren will be partnered in the Apotex Scorpio
team by Japanese driver Sho Hanawa
