Double Autumn Trophy win for Keen PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 29 October 2007

Richard Keen has secured his second win of the day in the Visma Formula Palmer Audi Autumn Trophy at Brands Hatch.

Keen out dragged pole-sitter Will Bratt into Paddock Hill Bend, but had to fend off a fast-starting Jack Clarke, who'd started on the second row of the grid. Bratt meanwhile was forced to settle into third place.

Keen soon opened up a gap to Clarke, building an advantage of 1.8s by the end of lappodium.jpg three. Once in front, he never looked back, and shrugged off a brief challenge from Clarke early on.

"I didn't see Jack, but I'm told he had a look up the inside. After the first corner it was a case of just getting my head down and putting in some consistent laps," he said. Keen continued to stretch his lead over the following laps with another textbook drive to victory.

Further back, Bratt's poor start put him under pressure from Tim Bridgman, who attempted to pass on the inside at Druids at first but couldn't find a way past. On lap 18 Bridgman tried a move at Paddock, but ran wide and allowed Jonathan Legris into fourth.

Bridgman's error arrived at the perfect moment for Legris, who made terrific progress during the race. The 19 year-old started from eighth on the grid, and worked his way through the pack, and grabbed the chance to pass Bridgman.

"I'm getting used to the car now, and I just took it by the scruff of the neck in that race. Working through the traffic was hard, but great fun," said Legris.

Richard Keen and Jack Clarke make up the front row of the grid for the final race of the day, with Jack Clarke in confident mood.

"Ive got the wet starts nailed now, so I'm really looking forward to the final race of the day. Obviously I'm slightly disappointed not to have done better in that race, but Richard's consistency makes him hard to catch," said Clarke.
