Fifteen year old Nigel Moore wins the Playstation Junior Ginetta championship PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 02 November 2007
Fifteen year old Nigel Moore has won the Playstation Junior Ginetta championship in his first year of motor racing, clinching it with second place in the first of three races at Brands Hatch.  The Yorkshire motor racing ace had qualified on pole position for Round 13 at the Brands Hatch Festival weekend and settled for second. When his nearest rival had a clash with another driver, the title was in Nigel’s hands,nigel_moore_brands1.jpg although he went into the weekend only needing fourteen more points in the bag.

“With the Brands Hatch Junior Festival Cup up for grabs we decided to go all out from then on, and another second and win were good enough to take the Cup as well as the championship title,” said Nigel, who drives the BRDC Stars of Tomorrow Scholarship car.

He combined the junior sportscar series with a season in karting, driving a 90 mph BRM Super ICC (KZ1) kart.

Nigel will have one last weekend racing the junior Ginetta in November, again at Brands Hatch in Kent for the Winter Festival, then next year will move up to race one of Ginetta’s powerful new G50 sportscars but still hopes to take in some kart racing. Nigel added:  “It’s been fantastic winning the championship in my first year of car racing, and I’d like to thank Richard Dean and all the staff at Ginetta Cars, the Hepworth team, also Caroynn Hoy and the BRDC, along with Tockwith Motorsports Centre and BRM Racing karts.”
