The curtain came down on the 2007 Hankook Forest Challenge
as the ANCRO Clubmen's crews contested the MEM Malton Forest Rally based
in Pickering this weekend.
Making a
welcome return to classic North Yorkshire stages, just four registered
competitors were in action on the Malton Motor Club event as most of the
championships had been wrapped up on the previous events meaning there was very
little other than pride to play for.
The two drivers who entered
improved their positions considerably whilst for the registered co drivers, it
wasn't such a successful event.
After
two non-finishes in his Ford Fiesta ST, Max Utting took the win and with it the
25 points which moved him up from 6th in the standings to third behind winner
Jonathan Greer and runner up Elfyn Evans. Robert Carr finished second behind
Utting in his Ford Escort Mark 2 and in doing so, bumped himself up from 13th to
8th as a result.
Sadly
neither Mark Walker nor Geoff Atkinson could add to their co-driver's scores as
Walker's Fiesta retired on SS8 with a broken differential whereas
Atkinson in the Ascona had exited two stages earlier with a broken
exhaust.
