Adderbury teenager Will Bratt is today celebrating outstanding A-level exam success with ‘A’-grades in History, Maths and Art meaning the Formula Renault UK
race ace will now go on to take up his place at the University of
Oxford.
On receiving his results this morning, the 18-year-old was delighted to
have achieved the grades he required in order to be able to progress to
the University of Oxford’s Lincoln College where he will now go on to
read History, beginning in October.
Alongside his impressive academic results, Will has also become one of
the country’s most promising young single-seater racing drivers this
year having earned a superb debut victory in the Formula Renault UK
Championship at the demanding Oulton Park Island Circuit in May. He is
currently seventh overall in the driver standings.
As if excelling in his A-level studies at Banbury’s Bloxham School has
not been achievement enough though, Will’s prowess at the wheel of a
racing car is nothing short of exceptional. In short, to be able to
combine the two disciplines effectively and successfully really does
mark the Oxon sensation out as a superb role model.
“I am absolutely delighted to have achieved the grades I needed”,
commented an ecstatic Will after receiving his exam results this
morning, “To be able to read History at Oxford is a dream come true and
while it will be an incredible challenge, I’m confident we can continue
to combine my education and motor racing successfully.”
Will’s A-level achievements are superb and especially so when taking
into account the sheer intensity of the period which surrounded his
exams.
In June, immediately after the conclusion of the second of two Formula
Renault UK races at Knockhill Circuit in Scotland, Will made the long
journey home to Adderbury before sitting not one, but five separate
exam papers the very next day.
Arriving at Knockhill knowing two History papers, two Chemistry papers
and one Maths paper awaited him on the Monday after the race meeting,
Will still managed to record a fourth position race result in round
eight of the championship – his performance also seeing the Scorpio
Motorsport star named the ELF/Atol Driver of the Day.
Proving young racing drivers do not have to sacrifice their academic
studies in pursuit of success on the track, Will is keen to offer his
gratitude to the teaching staff at Bloxham School who have enabled him
to enjoy such terrific A-level success.
In particular, he would like to express his thanks to History tutor Ian Hatton who has also been a mentor to the 18-year-old.
Will’s attention now returns to Formula Renault UK with the
championship competitors benefiting from an exclusive day of official
testing at Will’s ‘home’ track, Silverstone National Circuit, next
Tuesday, 22nd August.
The series’ next two rounds, meanwhile, will take place at Donington
Park Grand Prix Circuit in Leicestershire on 9th/10th September with
just two more events then remaining on the 2006 championship calendar,
one at Brands Hatch in Kent and then the season finale at Silverstone
in October.
