Wednesday, 16 August 2006
In less than one month the 2006 GP2 Series season will come to its conclusion. In the middle of an exciting championship finale, the GP2 Series family is preparing for its annual charity event to be held after the competition concludes in Monza.

The GP2 Series 2006 Prize Giving Ceremony featuring the 5th Annual Winning Attitudes Awards Charity Dinner is the classic season-closing event focused on the world’s foremost Formula One feeder series. This year the event will be held on September 10, 2006 at 7:00 pm at the exclusive Sporting Club, Monza. The event celebrates the mental spirit of motor racing in connection with physical talent and team building. With this event the Gonzalo Rodriguez Memorial Foundation is able to continue giving support through its socially relevant sporting programmes, helping thousands of Uruguayan children.

The 2006 Winning Attitudes Awards are chosen by an Independent Jury comprised of authorities and press and they are: Best Team Presentation, Best Team Communications, Best Team Marketing, Best Team Spirit, Best Team Strategists, Best Engineered Team, Most Friendly/Welcoming Team, Most Improved Driver of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Overtaking Manoeuvre of the Year, Driver Personality of the Year, Truckie of the Year, Best Media Support – voted by Independent Jury + GP2 Teams Press Officers, Best Driving Style – online poll at www.gp2series.com

For the second consecutive year, the Gonzalo Rodriguez Special Award will be delivered at the event. Last year Maestro Pablo Atchugarry created a magnificent marble piece inspired by Gonzalo. An authentic replica will be delivered to the person who holds the same values and virtues as the late Gonzalo. The award is voted for by anyone who in some way is related to this event and in 2005 the first winner was Mr. Charlie Whiting.
