Russell Racing is delighted to announce a new and incredibly exciting
partnership with former GT squad E-motional Engineering – a deal which will see
the Formula Renault team’s cars prepared and run from West Surrey Racing’s
outstanding Middlesex workshop facilities.
Since its race debut at the beginning of 2006, Russell Racing has been
striving for success and is now looking forward to a bright future with the
team’s race preparation to be spear-headed by
E-motional Engineering’s Allen Orchard at WSR’s excellent Sunbury-on-Thames
premises.
The Dick Bennetts-led WSR squad has a hugely successful and storied history
and this year underlined its position as one of the premier motorsport outfits
in the country by taking Team RAC to the Independent Teams’ Championship title
and Colin Turkington to the Independent Drivers’ crown in the prestigious
British Touring Car Championship.
Historically, WSR is renowned for its past exploits in single-seater
competition, the team having been instrumental in the formative careers of a
whole host of world famous drivers, none more so than triple Formula One World
Champion Ayrton Senna who raced with WSR in British Formula 3.
The tie-up between Russell Racing and E-motional Engineering is planned to
be the beginning of a fresh chapter for both entities and Russell Racing owner
Tim Russell has very high hopes for 2008.
He said: “Our agreement with Allen Orchard and E-motional Engineering is
incredibly exciting and it promises to be a superb development for Russell
Racing. It’s no secret 2007 has been a difficult year for us due to reasons
beyond our control but we’re fully committed to renewing the team’s presence in
Formula Renault BARC and beyond.
“Ideally, we aim to be back in Formula Renault UK from next season onward
and the association with E-motional Engineering, which brings the fantastic
benefit of utilising WSR’s outstanding premises, also offers the opportunity for
us to potentially expand into other categories.”
E-motional Engineering’s Allen Orchard, a Formula Renault UK racer himself
in the late 1990’s, added: “Our aim is to create a multi-level Renault powered
team, meaning we plan to be racing in Formula Renault BARC and Formula Renault
UK in 2008 with an eye on graduating to World Series by Renault too. Having
raced in Formula Renault myself in 1998 with a DC Cook Tatuus, this marks
something of a return home for me.
“At E-motional Engineering we cut our teeth in GT racing, learnt a lot and
then moved to the WSR premises where we’ve learned the way WSR has achieved
success. We now aim to bring that method into Formula Renault through our
partnership with Russell Racing. This is a very exciting opportunity for all of
us.”
Russell Racing is keen to hear from drivers now regarding winter testing
opportunities and prospective deals for 2008 in both Formula Renault BARC and
Formula Renault UK; for the relevant contact details please visit www.russell-racing.com
